Cancelling a project so late is a lose/lose scenario. You're guaranteeing that the government loses any money/time already spent on it and it also guarantees that the people don't get what they want. It doesn't come off as a prudent move for anyone.

I completely support the new Hamilton LRT plan and urge Hamilton City Council to endorse it with the overwhelming majority vote it deserves. I am pleased to see the unwavering support of all the city's anchor institutions. The benefits will accrue to our environment and to all the residents of the City of Hamilton, not just downtown residents. I hope Hamilton will live up to its aspiration as an ambitious city by seizing this one-time opportunity.
