Statement by Eric Windhorst

Dear elected leaders,

As a Hamilton resident, I write with shock after learning that the Ontario government has decided to withdraw funding for Hamilton's proposed LRT system.

I remember Premier Ford just last year touting the Hamilton LRT project "as an investment that will create jobs, countless new jobs and stimulate economic development." I have no doubt that this LRT-driven economic development would have resulted in increased tax revenue - which would have benefited all Hamilton residents, and the Province of Ontario more widely.

What (so suddenly) changed?

I urge Premier Ford to rescind Minister Mulroney's decision and to follow-through on his government's promise to provide funding for Hamilton's proposed LRT system.
