Statement by Mary Bowness
If we are to ever emerge out from under the shadow of a polluted city it will be because we're successful in increasing public and active transportation. Here, cars rule, and it is a damning indictment. We know the numbers, for not only pollution but for pedestrian death and injury. We'd like to bring people to the city, we'd like it to be inclusive, and because fewer and fewer people are choosing to drive, we need to build the infrastructure that supports a carless society. The LRT is a big step in the right direction for Hamilton.
