Statement by Cheryl Kipling

The City of Hamilton is growing so fast. We need good, reliable public transit today and in the future. We need to invest in LRT now, while we have the opportunity to do so.

So many of the people against this compare us to huge international cities like NYC and London, even to Toronto, and say we don't need LRT. While it is true that we are not as big as these places, our residents still need a way to get around. As we grow as a city, we will need even more public transit.

Buses are not the answer. Have you ever waited for a B-Line bus during rush hour? Good luck getting on. They are packed. I live on the Mountain and took public transit to Westdale for years. I now drive to work, because public transit is not efficient enough. Fund the transit we all need, and get me out of my car.
