All Statements of Support

  • Sean St Cyr says,

I fully support the LRT 100%

  • Judy Bowler says,

Hamilton needs this transportation system, the jobs it will create, the economic uplift, the increased affordable housing, the reduced CO2 emissions and the replaced aging underground infrastructure. This will be a very important post-pandemic stimulus project to kick-start our economy.

  • Doug Robbins says,

Really tired of city politicians..... Hamilton was offered rapid transit in 1985 declined and it was built in Vancouver...... Ottawa was offered Lite Rail at the same time as Hamilton.... theirs is up and running while our politicians are still talking

Time to change politicians or maybe shut this council down and force a new election

  • R Ian Downer says,

I think Hamilton City Council should fully endorse this LRT project as a start to revitalizing the transportation system in the downtown core.

I further feel that this should be considered just a first step to improve our public transit and that buses which will not be used on this route any more can be better utilized to expand service on other existing or new routes.

I have had the opportunity to travel to other countries with my wife and we have often explored other cities, of various sizes, by just hopping on there buses or similar rapid transit systems to get around and explore the region.

  • Robert Mazza says,

I've visited many cities that have LRT systems from Amsterdam to Sydney, Austrailia, and even Toronto. They are an essential and convenient way to get around in metropolitain urban environments.

  • Elizabeth Avetissian says,

Needed to build the economy in Hamilton

  • Rita Chimienti says,

After the funding announcement was made by the federal government to support the LRT, my husband and I took a drive to Kitchener Waterloo . If anyone has any doubt about the efficacy of this project do two things: First drive the downtown streets of Kitchener Waterloo with a LRT. Then drive our downtown streets.

Have the courage to make the tough decisions today that will benefit future generations.

  • Usha Daniel says,

Our city needs this. LRT will bring more jobs, less carbon emission, less traffic, and much-needed uplift to this city. You may not know this but one of the nicknames Hamilton is "The Ambitious City". Yes, we are ambitious to grow this beautiful city, and add to its history of growth and development.

  • Jordan Burgsma says,

The LRT has been a 'done deal' for a long time, hand has suffered interruptions far too late in the process repeatedly. It's time to finally get this done, and turn our energy to other projects afterwards.

  • Kevin McCafferty says,

Please accept this federal and provincial windfall and move forward with Hamilton's transformation. The suburbs cannot flourish without a healthy inner city. This project is crucial.

  • Sandra Emery says,

This is such an amazing opportunity for the city. Please, please do not pass it up. I may or may not use LRT much as I am retired and no longer commute but I totally understand that it is good for the city. Infrastructure along that route will have to be replaced in any case and that will not be inexpensive. With this money and the new LRT so much stimulus, not just economic but social and creative as well, will be brought to the inner city. Let’s
    truly be “the ambitious city”!

  • Alan Livingston says,

The LRT will make a very important and critical contribution to Hamilton over many years. The economic development and tax impacts will be a huge benefit, and will spread over the whole City, and especially help the downtown. A healthy downtown is crucial and will benefit thebemtirebCity And region.

  • Sharon Spence says,

Hamiltonians and Hamilton need and deserve LRT.
    The time is NOW!

  • Tyler Murray says,

    Hi there,

Even though I do not live near the line, and more than likely will not use it frequently, I support the LRT. Any way to make transit better in Hamilton I will support, and I hope you do to. We have a massive opportunity, and it would be stupid to pass it by. Please plan to invest in this project, our city’s future counts on it.

  • Natasha Renaud says,

Please ensure we accept this gift that will allow our city to develop and grow as its population has. If we start building now we may have a chance.

  • Arvind Singh says,

If as a City Councillor, you're looking for reasons to support LRT, I can give you 3.4 billion. That money with a shovel-ready project is just what our City needs in the post-pandemic recovery. As a proud resident, I have supported this project since I recognize its transformational abilities as do the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor and the majority of voters.

  • Kris Gadjanski says,

Let’s keep this incredible, multi-level investment in Hamilton and move our city forward! Beware other municipalities waiting in the wings to take advantage of our dithering.

  • Robert Brosius says,

The citizens and taxpayers of Hamilton have long awaited the arrival of this next phase of our transit system. Please support the initiative in every way possible, so Hamilton's LRT will be the success it deserves to be. Developers are already lining up with plans for commercial and residential development along the corridor. Employment and commerce will both prosper, as well as tourism visitors.

  • MARK POOLE says,

I AM FOR THIS PROJECT AND HAVE BEEN ALWAYS . THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY PROS THAT I BELIEVE VASTLY OUTWEIGH THE CONS. PLEASE AS SOMEONE WHO LOVES HIS CITY AND SEES ALL THE GOOD THIS WILL DO, AND NOT FALL UNDER THE BANDWAGON OF JUST SAYING NO BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE BEING OPPOSED TO SOMETHING LIKE A CHILD. THIS WILL BE SOMETHING LIKE NEVER BEFORE IN HISTORY FOR HAMILTON THAT WE MUST ALL UNDERSTAND AS BENEFICIAL. PLEASE, LET THE MOUNTAIN AND THE DOWNTOWN WITHING EAST TO WEST COME TOGETHER AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR ALL THE GOOD THAT IT WILL BRING. DO YOUR RESEARCH, UNDERSTAND BOTH SIDES, AND WELL, HOPEFULLY YOU WILL SEE WHY THIS IS SO ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL TO BRING ABOUT JUST THAT MUCH MORE AMBITION TO THIS GREAT ABSOLUTE BEAUTIFUL CITY OF ALL OF OURS.RESPECT AND PEACE AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH FOR ALL! LET US TREAT EACH 0THER LIKE WE WOULD WANT TO BE TREATED,WHETHER FOR OR AGAINST, THIS LINE MUST REMAIN INTACT AT THE VERY LEAST.
    THANK-YOU
    MARK POOLE

  • Azher Siddiqui says,

    Please build the LRT already!!!

  • Wade Zacharias says,

I am very frustrated at having to voice my support AGAIN for this project, and worried that it may not gain council support.
It is an excellent opportunity for Hamilton. Please support this project and help invest in Hamilton.

  • Gordon and Anne Howarth says,

absolutely support going forward with the LRT

  • Eric Mills says,

As an occasional visitor to Hamilton, it would help me get around. And I'd love to see downtown revitalized.

  • Tony Hill says,

The LRT should never have been cancelled, just built to different plans, as with many things in this city.

  • Tom Shea says,

Build it already! Make the city liveable. Make it pedestrian friendly. Score the billion dollars worth of infrastructure beneath the tracks. Score the jobs. Make something happen!

  • Ron Heres says,

I’ve always supported anything that would create growth and investment in Hamilton. This plan will boost the economy and provide for a quality transportation system that can be used by young and old.
Despite the efforts to get this done its best to keep things on track and push for the installation. Europe and other thriving nations make use of this type of system and it works well . The jobs and ongoing employment opportunities will be valuable for years to come.
    Thank you!

  • Donna Weldon says,

LRT has proven to improve use of public transit wherever it has been put in place. Join the modern world and support LRT here in Hamilton!

  • John Rogers says,

In a rare juncture of political synchronism, Hamiltonians are being offered a significant hand up towards a brighter future by both the Provincial and Federal Governments.
Locally, the debate should have concluded. Hamiltonians overwhelmingly expressed their support for the LRT during the last municipal election.
As Hamiltonians, we need to consider ourselves extremely fortunate at the reemergence of this almost lost opportunity.
If this door to rebuilding the infrastructure in our community is shut again, it is unlikely to open again for generations.

  • Gianni Charalambopoulos says,

YES LRT!!! this will benefit the entire city in many ways ...we can't afford to lose an opportunity of this magnitude

  • Petra Zantingh says,

In order to move Hamilton into being a viable and forward city, for sake of our children and grandchildren, for the sake of the environment and building community, please let's build the LRT. All major cities around the world have accessible public transit and the more it is used the more it will function to capacity.
