LRT Public Meetings This Week

Posted September 13, 2016

For the next two weeks, Metrolinx and the City of Hamilton are hosting a series of public information meetings on the Hamilton Light Rail Transit (LRT) project to share the latest plans and solicit feedback.

You can see a listing of all the dates, times and locations for those meetings.

The City has also provided a copy of the presentation boards and maps to download, and an online comment form for people who can't attend one of the meetings in person.

This is an important opportunity for us to make sure the LRT project is the best it can be. Your feedback matters: public input has already led staff to reconfigure the stations to serve International Village more directly. Please try to attend one of the events and share your thoughts on how to make this project a success.

Support Still Needed

Unfortunately, while it is exciting to be involved in the detailed planning for LRT implementation, it remains that a few councillors are trying to undermine the project altogether instead of ensuring that it will be successful.

If you have not already, please send a message to Council to express your support for this plan and ask them to stay the course on this already-approved, already-funded project! (And forward this email to your friends and associates so they can also express their LRT support.)

Modern rapid transit is an essential component in a hopeful, ambitious vision for Hamilton as a place that supports and encourages creativity, growth and development. We have to fight for that vision against the kind of cynicism, negativity and civic self-loathing that has too often held us back from achieving our potential.
