Full Steam Ahead on LRT

Posted September 08, 2021

In a resounding 11-3 vote, Hamilton City Council voted today to approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Metrolinx to build the Hamilton LRT.

Unlike the previous version of the project, this memorandum will be "binding and enforceable", locking Hamilton into this transformative investment. This means we are full steam ahead on LRT.

Thanks to everyone who made their voice heard on this important issue! Hamilton's future is brighter today.

In favour:

Maureen Wilson (Ward 1), Jason Farr (2), Nrinder Nann (3), Sam Merulla (4), Tom Jackson (6), Esther Pauls (7), John-Paul Danko (8), Brad Clark (9), Lloyd Ferguson  (12), Arlene VanderBeek (13), Mayor Fred Eisenberger.

Opposed:

Maria Pearson (10), Brenda Johnson (11), Judi Partridge (15).

We will continue to follow the completion of the LRT plan and will share updates as needed. This is politics in Hamilton and anything can happen, so we need to keep up the pressure until it's built.
