The City's LRT plan has $3.4 billion in federal & provincial funding. Show your support for the plan.

Statement by Ryan Crawford

Hello,

I recently heard that the LRT was "cancelled" by the Ford government. This is an incredible betrayal, not only on the face of it, but in the fine details in the cost estimate. Hamilton has planned and spent a great deal of money to get to the stage we're at. To change course now is only disrespecting the apparent fiscal responsibility that the Ontario Progressive Conservatives are trying to show themselves as.

1) Cancelling the project before the bidding process will only hurt the Ford government because it demonstrates that you are afraid of seeing the numbers

2) Economic intensification is partially dependant on the LRT project and cancellation demonstrates that Ontario is not "open for business". GDP projections proved that the LRT is not a loss for the province... The billion spent will give billions back to the city and province

3) LRT is *necessary* for addressing the housing and economic crisis that Ontario (and Hamilton in particular) is and will face in the coming years

4) Ontario is opening itself to become the subject of class action lawsuits

5) City council, voters of Hamilton, and all the related business entities have *chosen* the LRT. Betraying these stakeholders is undemocratic.

Thank you for your attention, have a nice day,
Ryan
