Statement by Joanne Hudspith

I understand that many Hamiltonians don't feel there is a need for the LRT, but we need to remember that the LRT is for the benefit of future generations of Hamiltonians, not necessarily the ones who are voting against it today.

We need to think ahead to when fewer people will be able to afford and operate cars, and make transit the most convenient and fastest way to get through the city.

I live downtown Hamilton, and see the new condos and apartment buildings that are going up all around me, some of them built with the understanding that the LRT would be built as well - is this the way we want to show people that Ontario (and Hamilton) is open for business?
