Statement by Rob Italiano

Hamilton decided to keep the name "Hamilton Street Railway" back in 1951 when they decided to replace their streetcar system with 3 ELECTRIC trolley COACHE Routes and the rest diesels. They even kept the name in 1992 after ELIMINATING ELECTRIFIED public transportation in their city ALTOGETHER, making TORONTO the ONLY city in Ontario WITH it! They COULD have changed the name to "Hamilton Transit Commission, Hamilton Transit Authority" or even just PLAIN "Hamilton Transit!" They didn't! They decided to KEEP the name "Street Railway" because it reminded them of their GLORY days back when STREETCARS were the MAIN reason it was a GREAT city! EVER since the fall of the public transportation network, Hamilton has DECLINED in size and population, the DOWNTOWN CORE area has become DESERTED, AND it is now NOTHING but a GHOST town! People of Hamilton DESERVE MUCH better, and they CANNOT wait ANOTHER 30 years for this to HAPPEN, or it will be WAY TOO late! It is time to help Hamilton get back it's LITERAL STREET RAILWAY, that is what the Light Rail System can DO! Let's do the right thing and make Hamilton GREAT again!
