The province's decision to backpedal on Hamilton's LRT was pathetic and underhanded. LRT's have been built in many cities. They know how much it should cost, so how is it that Hamilton's LRT project is suddenly over budget? Years of planning went into this project. The Ford government fabricated this excuse because they're all about making cuts. Hamilton's future depends on this project. Many properties have already been purchased to make way for the LRT. King street will be a disaster without one.

I completely support the new Hamilton LRT plan and urge Hamilton City Council to endorse it with the overwhelming majority vote it deserves. I am pleased to see the unwavering support of all the city's anchor institutions. The benefits will accrue to our environment and to all the residents of the City of Hamilton, not just downtown residents. I hope Hamilton will live up to its aspiration as an ambitious city by seizing this one-time opportunity.
