Pulling the plug on this LRT appears very shortsighted. If the rationale was for the protection of affordable rents or the slowing of gentrification in Hamilton I might have understood more. That does not sound like our current provincial government, does it? The bottom line is that this is something that smells of being environmentally sound and hence the Ford administration opposes it. With proper regulation holding rent tied to income to protect those living along the line, the LRT would be a net positive for the city. We need to get people out of their cars and on public transit.
