Statement by Matt Pinder
As a former resident of Hamilton, I was very disappointed to hear about the cancellation of the LRT. The Hamilton LRT is not merely a transit project - it is also a development project, aimed at transforming the city’s growth and discouraging sprawl. The development industry loves LRT projects, as evidenced by the recently completed Waterloo LRT leading to more than a billion dollars in new development already. We desperately need more projects like these if we have any hope of meeting our climate goals. Please reconsider the value of this project.
