The cancelation of the LRT and the way it was done is an absolute disgrace. Hamilton has debated this issue for years and the last municipal election gave a clear mandate to proceed with this project. To have the rug pulled out from under us at the last minute based on false numbers and crass political calculations Is a slap in the face to all hamiltonians and must be reversed. The province continues to fund projects in the GTA that are of similar cost to Hamilton's LRT but
somehow ours no longer makes sense. Our council needs live up our city's moniker "the ambitious city" and put pressure on the Ford government to reinstate the LRT.

I completely support the new Hamilton LRT plan and urge Hamilton City Council to endorse it with the overwhelming majority vote it deserves. I am pleased to see the unwavering support of all the city's anchor institutions. The benefits will accrue to our environment and to all the residents of the City of Hamilton, not just downtown residents. I hope Hamilton will live up to its aspiration as an ambitious city by seizing this one-time opportunity.
