Statement by Catherine Cox
The B-line LRT is Hamilton's single most important infrastructure project for a generation: it has the potential to help Hamilton achieve its economic and social potential as one of Canada's most dynamic cities.
This is why, beginning in 2007 the Province has funded and encouraged Hamilton to do the necessary engineering design, land use planning, economic studies and public engagement to make this project a success.
The Rapid Ready report, unanimously supported by council in 2013, was Hamilton's submission to the province fulfilling everything the Province had asked the City for its B-line LRT.
In 2007, 2011 and 2014 the Provincial government has promised LRT for Hamilton. We've done our homework, the project is feasible and has a big net benefit.
Now is the time to make it happen! Don't let this once in a generation opportunity pass us by.
