Were looking to buy a house near King St and a future lrt line there would really help in sprucing up that area. As I see it now, the way downtown hamilton is set up is to make it as convenient as possible to bypass the whole downtown area to get to Stoney Creek or the McMaster University side by way of one-way streets that are essentially east-west highways thru the city.

Traffic needs to be slowed down, with more interaction built in to the experience of passing thru downtown Hamilton. When a critical mass of wealthier people start to travel throughout the whole downtown youll see more businesses thrive and gentrification will take over.

Lrt is essential in this because it will revivalize the whole east-west corridor along the king st. Condos will be built along the corridor. Street life will flourish. Essentially, the model to follow is what happened in Toronto in the past 15years. I think the LRT Line will kickstart a new beginning for downtown Hamilton, and that the benifits and increased tax revenues with all the new development and increased foot traffic in the city should more than pay back the cost of the line itself.

One more thing. I feel the LRT Line along with increased transit, might encourage a lot of Young Urban Professionals from Toronto to move here to Hamilton. Make the city comfortable for this new generation of people who want to live downtown, walk or take transit to work, and dont care for cars, and theyll flock to Hamilton along with their 6 figure paycheques.

pS: I don't know who will be reading this, but you guys have a real gem of a city here, Toronto is essentially maxed out. Play your cards right and and Hamilton could boom like Toronto has by acting like a secondary hub for the region. I hope i gave you guys a few ideas.
