Statement by Erin Mallon
It’s not the time to back track on promises of funding for the best transit for Hamilton. LRT is the best option and this has been proven. Now is the time to double down on energy efficient, pedestrian centric, density supporting transit that is not dependent on fossil fuels. It’s time to prepare for 10, 20 and 50 plus years into the future of cities and learn from Europe and Asia how to build transit and walkable cites. Busses are not the answer and more roads will create more problems. We must ween ourselves off of fossil fuels and the personal vehicle. It’s time for Ontario to put our money where our mouth is. Support communities, support the people and make good decisions for the future of our environment.
