Statement by John Hannah
The destructive wave of a climate crisis is still building. To survive it, LRT is one solution. As this project recovers economic viability to the length of the line, we will happily see prosperity return to Hamilton's core and the emerging waterfront. Pedestrians supported by LRT, cyclists made safer by fewer cars and reduced dependence on fossil fuels and personal vehicles all add up to a healthier culture shift trending downtown - think Supercrawl. LRT viability and the funding support offered are smart growth for a smarter city. Start sharing the benefits of LRT. We need to hear a united council talking about positives in a post-pandemic recovery. This is like winning the lottery folks, but we don't just gain 3.4 billion in prosperity, we're also going to be happier, healthier, and smarter. And thus, I submit Hamilton's new motto.
