Statement by Brendan Duke
Dear Hamilton City Councillors,
LRT is a shot in the arm for Hamilton, at a time when we all need a shot in the arm. It will help revitalize our downtown, and our economy. The Hamilton LRT will replace aging infrastructure that needs replacing. At the same time it will spur new developments, strengthening our tax base so that we will be financially resilient in the future. It will connect people along the most heavily used transit corridor in our city. LRT will move students from the University to downtown where they can make Hamilton's transition from rust belt to brain belt possible. Everyone young and old will benefit from the improved car-independent mobility afforded by LRT. With no downside and so much upside, LRT is a shot in the arm we need today more than ever.
City councillors this is your time, do the right thing for Hamilton and approve LRT!
