Statement by David Zalepa

Dear City Councilor's
I have lived and visited a number of Cities in the world and the most successful cities all have one thing in common. One form of decent public transit to move people easily throughout the city. Face the facts most people will not take a bus. But they will take a subway, street car or an LRT. That is just the way it is in our world. How many people would admit to taking a Bus across the Country? Zero. How many people brag about their glorious train ride across the country. All of them. The LRT is an extremely important first building block to re-build this crumbling city. Look around at some of the neighbourhoods.Many are ready for a bulldozer. That is another fact. You can talk about improving buses but no one will ever take a bus unless that was the only option on the table. And even then they may turn to walking or a bike. To bring development and prosperity to this City an LRT is needed. There is no other way. Take this opportunity or spend another century stuck in the mud trying to pull the City out to move on.
