Statement by Ryan McGreal
Dear Council,
I certainly hope the motion to reaffirm your support for the provincially-funded LRT plan is just a formality.
Council has voted steadily and consistently in favour of LRT ever since the first vote in 2008 to establish a Rapid Transit office and undertake a Rapid Transit Feasibility Study. In the intervening years, the case for LRT has only gotten steadily stronger, and with full capital funding from the Province, it is a no-brainer for Council to accept YES for an answer.
I trust that Council will do the right thing and demonstrate an overwhelming show of support for LRT in its vote to confirm acceptance of $1 billion in capital funding for phase 1 LRT in Hamilton.
