Hamilton needs the LRT to continue to add jobs to the core. We need the next generation of tech companies to make Hamilton their home. Without the LRT, they will look to other cities for their offices. Kitchener-Waterloo, our biggest competitor for tech investment, has already completed their LRT. Let's take the cash and get going!

I completely support the new Hamilton LRT plan and urge Hamilton City Council to endorse it with the overwhelming majority vote it deserves. I am pleased to see the unwavering support of all the city's anchor institutions. The benefits will accrue to our environment and to all the residents of the City of Hamilton, not just downtown residents. I hope Hamilton will live up to its aspiration as an ambitious city by seizing this one-time opportunity.

In a resounding 11-3 vote, Hamilton City Council voted today to approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Metrolinx to build the Hamilton LRT.
