Debbie Avetissian says,
Dear Hamilton City Council,
It was with amazing pride that I watched both the Federal and Provincial governments have the confidence in investing in Hamilton’s LRT project. Between aiding our economic recovery, allowing new underground infrastructure and helping our tax base to grow, this is an amazing opportunity.
My family asks that you ensure the job is done correctly, that geared to income housing is a huge part of the investment and that the HSR is pegged to operate the transit system.
Accept the money and let’s get to work!
Respectfully submitted,
Deb avetissian

Jonathan Heemskerk says,
Dear Hamilton City Council,
As a resident of Hamilton, I urge you to support the LRT funding offer from the provincial and federal governments.
Reason #1. You already have a clear mandate, with the last municipal election being very much a one-issue vote, and a clear victory of 54% to pro LRT feed vs 38% anti-LRT Vito. Anything less than full support would be turning your backs on the will of the people. We are democracy. Listen to us!
2. It will bring much - needed infrastructure to our city. Investing in our future is never a bad thing. Think of it like investing in your own house. If you hope to live there for many years, do you cheap out on the roof or furnace? No. The LRT project will allow for much needed upgrades to city infrastructure below - grade on the route. It's like someone offering new plumbing for your house, on top of a new car! And as it is clear it is an LRT-only offer, you should take that offer, even if you maybe thought you wanted a new roof instead of a car. You're getting free plumbing AND a car. TAKE IT.
3. Environmental impact. This issue only grows more important as time goes on. We NEED to people out of automobiles and into the most efficient transportation possible. Electric trains are by far the greatest option for this. When there is a permanent solution like LRT in place, it allows people to be better equipped to build their lives around transit rather than cars.
4. Business investment. Again, the permanence of an LRT system will encourage investment like no other option will. No developer will build in a location just because there's a new bus route. But if the city commits to LRT, businesses will commit to our city. We already saw public statements as such when the project was cancelled - several developers came out and said projects would now be on hold until it goes ahead. With firm, mutlti-government commitments, that investment will only grow more. Look to Kitchener-Waterloo, where they have had billions ion new investment along their line. And it's not just big money either. I myself put my money when my belief is, and bought a home along the proposed route.
Hamilton is called "the Ambitious City" . BE AMBITIOUS! Build something that will have a positive impact on us for decades to come. Make history for our great city! Hamilton has at times been a world leader in industry, electrification, and even rail with the local mountain climber rails! We won't lead the world with LRT but we can at very least keep up, and give our city the best opportunity to continue its ambitious growth!

Doug Niessen says,
If we are to move forward as a City it can only be done hand in hand with tranist. As Hamilton grows the need it going to only increase and when we do eventually decide to move forward the cost will certainly be anywhere from 25% to 50% higher. Regret is what everyone will be feeling.

Ryan Crawford says,
To whom it may concern,
It was with much joy, but not surprise that the Federal government has finally had to step up and announce that they will match, dollar for dollar, a capital funding committment that of the province's funding of the LRT in Hamilton. Given the pandemic we're in now, an infrastructure project such as this is the perfect "shovel ready" initiative that may very well set Hamilton on a trajectory to become a much more prosperous, safe, and happy city.
Even before this full funding committment, the province, liuna, and the various public/private partnerships available were still very good options for moving this project forward which would have resulted in just as beneficial returns for the city.
I urge any council member who is anything but fully supportive of the LRT to carefully consider how they spend their time and energy in the coming months because you will be fighting against likely one of the greatest opportunities that has ever availed Hamilton. Dithering and distracting has only resulted in causing the project to increase in cost, and many taxpayers, including myself are watching what members do very carefully. Council has already wasted time, money, and face on the various "bids" (aka gambles) such as trying to attract the likes of Amazon, sporting events, and gosh knows what else, only to have gotten nothing in return. LRT is not a gamble. It's a few years of growing pain from construction.
Just as a reminder, this free capital investment in Hamilton is not only to build a multipurpose, multimodal, accessible, and spacious rail system, but is also free water, sewer, electrical, and roadworks revitalizations that the city would absolutely have to budget for in the coming years if we do not vote in favor of a memorandum of understanding that agrees with building the LRT.
Best,
Ryan -

My name is Angela I am a resident of Hamilton, I am in full support of this project LRT, when I lived outside of Canada in Italy this was my form of Transportation La Tram in which we call LRT in Canada, this is my main source of transportation in fact I used this to get from City to City as this can eventually expand there is no limits, it will move people to their destination in a fast and safe manner, and the fact that it is seamless was amazing, its economical and enivornmentally friendly, the fact that this will create jobs in this time when our economy so needs it, this will benefit Hamilton in so many ways now and into the future, the fact that this will be so accessible, is the main thing, from McMaster to Eastgate which are great connectors, We are asking for the City Council and the Provincial Government Ford to move forward with this, there are so many benefits to LRT
