  • Simon Woodside says,

When the economic recovery starts, it will be especially important to Bos projects that are both environmentally friendly and deliver maximum economic benefits. LRT does both. It will build better places that will deliver higher tax revenues to the city and higher economic benefits to the community. It should be prioritized over projects like road building and highways. Thanks.

  • Michael Root says,

Light Rail in Hamilton seems feasible, particularly if the majority of all parties concerned consider Hamilton an important constituency of citizens interested in sustainable development.

  • Dolores Smith says,

Hamiltom needs the LRT to continue to grow our great city. A must!

  • Randy Coutts says,

Cancelling Hamilton's LRT was a mistake. Please correct this mistake and help Hamilton recover from the COVID-19 pandemic by reaching out to the Federal Government to help fund and support Hamilton's LRT and let's get the project back on track. Hamilton's LRT is shovel-ready to help reinvigorate the GTHA economy please don't miss this opportunity to get LRT in Hamilton moving.

  • Dorothy Taylor says,

I totally endorse the recovery of the Hamilton LRT project.

We all appreciate the lack of pollution breathing cleaner air that COVID 19 isolation has revealed to us.

This project is the way of the present as we embark on the many changes and challenges of daily work/life balance.

  • Anne Howarth says,

Please reopen this funding for the Hamilton LRT. We now more than ever need job creation and a connection for our city that the LRT will provide.
The cost was not was it seemed the real numbers are speaking the truth !
The land is purchased let's make an effort and do what was promised and make the LRT a reality.

  • margaret Ferizis says,

Not going forward with the LRT project is is going backwards instead, and a lot for costly for future Hamiltonians.

One look the time wasted with the Red Hill should be enough.

Money has been spent, contracts signed. To back out now will be an enormous waste of money, time and resources.

Do not allow yourselves to be influenced by a handful of selfish commuters, who only care about their own lonely drive across town.

They do not contribute to the vitality of the core, and a healthy core is a healthy community.

  • Wayne Baker says,

I believe that light rail transit is the best option for rapid transit service in the city of Hamilton. Light rail transit demonstrates a long term commitment to rapid transit service for the residents of Hamilton.

  • Robert Brosius says,

I understand that the federal government will fund "shovel-ready" projects that can be implemented quickly and have big economic, social and environmental impact.

Hamilton's LRT is a perfect candidate for federal infrastructure funding!

Our LRT project has been under development since 2008, gone through many feasibility and benefits analyses by multiple organizations, and has an approved environmental assessment. In fact, we were just waiting for the final bids when the project was unexpectedly stopped in December.

In concrete terms, LRT means thousands of jobs during the construction phase (projected to last 3-5 years) and billions in new investment over the lifetime of the system.

Please support that important project for the greater Hamilton community, for the Province of Ontario and for Canada.

  • Joan Hobbs says,

We need to get LRT back on track. We need it for our future transportation needs and it would be an economic driver for our City.
The increase in our tax base from new businesses along the B line would have numerous benefits to everyone in the City.
It is shovel-ready, so a perfect project to kickstart our economy after Covid 19.
Do not let our generation be known as “users” only...Lets improve our City for future generations.

  • Jesse Gallant says,

Please make this project go ahead like scheduled, Hamilton NEEDS the lrt

  • s hart says,

Local and efficient public transit enables sustained economic growth and invigorates local neighbourhoods.

Hamilton and its people have worked hard to recover from post industrial challenges. MacMaster continues to build its reputation and attract researchers and students from around the world. An arts scene is know for its cool. A retail sector marches on in a changing landscape with courage. A reliable and world class public transit would make neighbourhoods more walkable and provide opportunity to residents both during the construction phase and in its operation.

Today, Sidewalk Labs has announced its pull out from Toronto. The cities of future must be resilient and rely on the public provision of green infrastructure. Hamilton draws on a proud history, and candour in facing its challenges.

It was the collective that we so carefully built that has saved so many from Covid-19 in Canada and in the world. Time to carry that forward, indeed pay it forward, to subsequent generations.

It is a brave new world. Let's be brave.

  • William Harvey says,

Forget the SSE and get on with LRT in Hamilton.

  • Eugene Ellmen says,

Fast, efficient transit is needed to provide access to services that people of all incomes in Hamilton need. It's a matter of basic equality.

  • Elly Bowen says,

Please build the LRT. It is an opportunity ready to get off the ground and bring many needed jobs to Hamilton. The City continues to grow, but it needs a better transportation system. LRT is ready. The citizens want it. Houses are currently boarded up waiting for it .
The City will only be better for it.

  • Sean St Cyr says,

This would be a huge boost to the economy and create thousands of jobs! Plus this was already promised to use and then was stripped away by some bias assessment. It would be a great green project that would benefit everyone in the long term!

  • Gemma Corless says,

Shovel-ready and people ready. Don't leave Hamilton behind.

  • Lane Dunlop says,

Please fund the LRT project that Hamiltonians have passed and approved multiple times! LRT has been proven multiple times to improve the quality of life of citizens. Hamilton is a growing, vibrant city. We need LRT.

Thank you for your action and consideration.

  • Jeffrey Taylor says,

What a great make-work project after the pandemic, along with all the other great benefits this will bring to the city...please Premier Ford, don't blow the chance a second time, we need it, we deserve it!
Bring it on, we are READY!!

  • Maris Lukss says,

Make it happen. Enough of the nonsense.

  • John MacMillan says,

I support an LRT for Hamilton.

  • Karan Van Patter says,

As a ward 3 resident I fully support the proposed B line LRT. If we turn this down, the funds will go to another community and Hamilton will be left behind. We simply cannot afford to say no!

  • RONALD JENKINS says,

Here in Hamilton we really need the lrt project to start. Not only to improve transportation but to provide many jobs to help the economy.

  • Gloria Geller says,

Move Hamilton forward into the future by reinstating LRT.

  • Riley Steeves says,

higher-order transit would tick all of the boxes when Ottawa looks to create jobs and boost Hamilton's economy. The LRT is good.

  • Nicholas Kevlahan says,

Please support making Hamilton's shovel ready LRT project a catalyst for post-COVID economic revitalization!

One of the main arguments for LRT has always been its ability to massively boost Hamilton's economy both during the 3-5 year construction period and during the lifetime of the project.

Now, more than ever, Hamilton needs the thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars of local investment LRT construction will provide. The project is ready to go: we were just waiting for the final bids to come in when the project was paused in December.

The federal government has expressed willingness to fund Hamilton's LRT and federal funding will make the project even more affordable to the Province and the City.

Please ensure all levels of government work together to build LRT. We need it now more than ever!

    Regards,

    Nicholas Kevlahan

  • Janice Brown says,

    Very important to our future!

  • Thomas Belshaw says,

I am very tired of hearing about this proposed system for Hamilton for SO LONG....no action as of yet..let's stop all the talk & get this project back on TRACK.The sooner the better PLEASE!............TOM

  • Leslie Addison says,

    Hello Mr. Ford,
First let me say I am beyond pleased with your response to the current Covid 19 pandemic and situation in Ontario. You have been responsive to the needs of Ontarians and for that I say THANK YOU!!!!!

As part of the economic recovery in Hamilton, I would like to again reach out to say that the LRT project, that was the #1 recommendation of the Hamilton LRT task force, is a shovel ready project that will create jobs and much needed economic growth in Hamilton. I understand the federal government has committed to financially supporting 'shovel ready' projects as well as a specific nod to Hamilton's LRT through the federal minister of transportation. It is my understanding that the request for federal support must come from the provincial government. I am asking for the government of Ontario to get the LRT back on track with a formal request for federal funds and the green light to the project. The task force your government put together has made a unanimous first choice recommendation for a Hamilton LRT. All studies have been completed and it's time to get moving.
Thanks for your continued support as we Ontarians work together for economic recovery in these uncertain times.
    Sincerely,
    Leslie Addison

  • Steven Hernden says,

Hamilton's LRT is very important to the city. There is no efficient way to travel across the lower part of the city at this time. Getting from east to west can easily take almost an hour by car. The same distance in the upper city can be covered in about 10 minutes (due to the cross-city highway).

Getting away from cars is important for the environment. An efficient LRT across the city would encourage more people to use it - because it would be the fastest way to travel across the city!
