V. Wayne Elshaw says,
The L.R.T. is exactly what Hamilton needs coming out of the pandemic. The offer from the two senior levels of government is too good to turn down. The new jobs alone will improve the economy of the entire Hamilton region.
-
Gert-Jan Verburg says,
I support the Hamilton LRT project because I believe it will make a valuable contribution to the local economy, will help the city lower its carbon footprint by providing an affordable alternative to motorized personal vehicles, and provide more options for middle class residents to move around our beautiful city. I urge you to show your support for this project as well!

I spend a lot of time in Hamilton even though I live in Montréal. My parents-in-law live in Hamilton, my sister-in-law's family, my brother's brother-in-law's family, and many many friends. I can tell you as an urban planner this is just what the City of Hamilton needs. Support the LRT now!!!
-

Bring Hamilton out of the Dark Ages, We Need LRT to help this city reach its full potential.
After all the buildings were purchased and razed to have the rug pulled out by the Ontario Government now the Federal Government allocates the money get on with it. A simple yes or no is required all of the groundwork has already been done.

Shawn Bines says,
I commute from downtown to Arvin/Fruitland and back daily for work all in all I spend over 3hrs on the bus daily that's THREE HOURS DAILY! As a regular HSR rider we desperately need higher order transit and obviously a subway system is not in the cards so LRT is the next best thing.
We need high capacity, more accessible transit for the disabled, environmentally friendly and faster more frequent transit. LRT in it's own dedicated lanes will make a world of a difference for my commute and countless others. Yes I will still need to transfer at Eastgate Mall to the 55a bus to get to Arvin Ave but the time savings from the LRT stretch not to mention the ride in quiet comfort... will make a world of difference for me!
Our busses are falling apart, have you ever tried riding the B-Line from one end of the city to the other? It's brutal on the back & brain. The constant bumps from the huge potholes to the rattling bus parts, loud engine noise and the terrible exhaust fumes we're constantly breathing in, it's just not a pleasant or healthy experience.
The LRT will also fix our infrastructure all along the route and the main arterial roads which is desperately needed and it will be a MASSIVE catalyst for a building boom the likes this city has never seen before all along the entire route! More people, more businesses, more jobs, more housing, a cleaner & quieter lower Hamilton with those old busses taken off the road and a huge new tax base that benefits ALL of Hamilton! How can anyone say no to that???
PLEASE I BEG OF YOU ALL, move our city forward, don't go down in the history books as the city council that blew our best chance at greatness! A BRT works on the mountain but it does not work in the lower city. Lets get LRT built and then focus on BRT for the rest of the city as Phase 2.
Last thing... if you turn this down you signal to the province, to the country & to the world Hamilton is broken, dysfunctional, stagnant and not interested in moving our city forward!
If you read this all, I thank you for your time.

-
Susan Muma says,
To City Council:
You must accept the 3.4 bilioon from the Federal and Provincial governments and build the LRT.
The tax base created by this investment will more than cover its operating costs.
Stop delaying and do this now!
-
Wesley Griffin says,
The LRT plan is ready to go and we have been ready to move forward with Hamilton LRT since before the Ford government unexpectedly stopped it. The opportunity to make this happen has been revived, providing one last chance to move this project forward. We must take advantage of this opportunity immediately, before it passes.
This plan will drastically improve our city, making it more accessible, sustainable, and profitable. It would be absurd and backwards to let this opportunity pass. This is a chance to step into the future - let's not let our city remain in the past.
-
Sebastian Irazuzta says,
It’s time we move into efficient and environmentally conscious transportation. Across Europe this is the norm, and it works! This project will provide up front jobs and so much more down stream. Looking forwards to quick and smooth rides across town.
-
Robin Parsons says,
The benefits of LRT have been reported on extensively. It was disheartening and discouraging when LRT was cancelled. Now, it is encouraging that the federal and provincial governments have renewed their commitments to LRT. Hamilton City Council, please confirm your commitment, and let's make this opportunity happen!
-
Cora Muis says,
I don't live anywhere near a bus route even but I can see the sense in having LRT - let's get out city into this century! Don't forget that some of the cost of installing LRT is fixing the ancient infrastructure mess under the streets it will traverse. That is another win for the environment.
-
Vince Franco says,
I've been a downtown resident for 14 years and to pass up an opportunity like $3.4B of gifted money would be a great mistake and shameful for generations to come. The municipal government should be working for the majority of citizens, not just groups of anti-LRT ward constituents because they want the votes. The last election proved that the majority of Hamiltonians want and need an LRT for the future. Successful cities with a growing population need a track system to carry more people and spur development. Need proof? Look it up... LRTs are successful almost everywhere they are built. It's also more environmentally friendly. Without that, you have major transportation issues when the city's population hits 750,000+ people. Not to mention that construction costs escalate over time - 12 years ago a Hamilton LRT would've cost only a $1B to construct. Imagine if Hamilton waits longer and in 2030, the cost is now $6B! With a working LRT, the operation costs will balance out quickly, so that shouldn't be a deterrent. Finally, if city council decides to pass on this, I'm passing on living in Hamilton. I know that's a moot point, but why would I put anymore of my dollars into a city that would turn away $3.4B?! I'd rather live in Brantford, Burlington or Beamsville - they seem to have their act together. So, please do the right thing and vote "YES to LRT." Let's get this shovel-ready project started!

YES to LRT
FOR ENVIRONMENTAL REASONS we must learn to share our transportation and get so many automobiles off the road
Walking a block or two to a LRT stop would also be better for our health than door to door custom travel about the city for most of us -
Petra Zantingh says,
This is one of the best investments in our city for now and future generations in terms of the environment and community.
-
Mary Anne Ablitt-Blain says,
Do us all a favour AND GET ON WITH IT. Tired of the dragging of feet. The Linc ended up costing an arm and a leg and look how amazing it is for our city. This too, is a good thing so stop procrastinating and get it done. That is your job. Do it.

Light rail transit will provide the public transit service that the people of Hamilton need and deserve. It will also lead to more economic development along the transit line that will result in a more prosperous city for everyone in Hamilton.

Douglas Gray says,
We. Just move into the future by eliminating fossil fuel! The light rail is the first step towards eliminating dirty fossil fuel buses from the city! All fossil fuel buses must be eliminated, including school buses. There is no time to waste. We are already falling behind other cities in Canada and around the world. The time to act is now!
-
Joanne Edmiston says,
Please get this project done! The LRT will be a huge economic boon for Hamilton and will increase urban density which will in effect increase the tax base. The cost of running it will pale in comparison to the economic benefits to the city. Hamilton needs this to be a thriving city and to attract great new business and talent!

I support all initiatives which move us away from fossil fuels and toward reducing our CO2 emission levels. I hove travelled on LRT systems in the US and in Europe. They are convenient and user friendly. Sustainable public transit is the way of the future. Hamilton please lets not get stuck in the past again.
Joy Warner -
Steven Hernden says,
Please support the LRT initiative, especially now that both the Federal and Provincial governments are providing support to build it.
-
Randy Coutts says,
Please don't let this opportunity slip through our hands again! LRT is a good thing for Hamilton. If Hamilton screws this up, we will be an embarrassment throughout the Province and won't get an offer like this again. The pros far outweigh the cons.
Instead of constantly spinning its wheels, how about City Council demonstrate that we are a daring, progressive and forward-thinking City? Look at the Red Hill Expressway. A painful experience with MANY people opposed to it, who now couldn't and wouldn't live without it. Short-term pain for long-term gain. We will get through it and it will be a success story for Hamilton.
PLEASE let's do it! LRT!
