  • Tim Simmons says,

I believe LRT will be a solid anchor for what will eventually become a city wide rapid transit system utilizing both train and bus technologies.

  • Martin Kuplens-Ewart says,

Full, unquestionable capital funding locked in? Enough with the waffling and fear-mongering. Let’s get this done!

  • Wayne Felder says,

Please do not allow us to miss out on the historic investment in our city. Yearly operating costs are manageable and should be accounted for in a modern mid-size city. This is not an excuse to maintain the status quo! Please vote to approve this unique one-time funding offer.

  • Pat Whelan says,

Let's finally build this thing! LRT is a transformational project for our city, it reflects our ambition and our confidence. With the financial support of the federal and provincial governments this should be a simple decision to build the LRT.

I'm hopeful that our city council will make the right decision.

  • Jane Slote says,

Please do not miss this time sensitive opportunity that will have economic benefits for ALL of Hamilton. The job opportunities alone are worth it but there will be tremendous development growth as well. Our son lives in Waterloo and the benefits there are being realized already. They did not hesitate and their LRT is up and running, benefiting the city and ready for the next stage. If you are a Hamilton city councillor sitting on the fence of all this potential please consult again with councillors from the amazing city of Waterloo.

  • Alison Rogers Rogers says,

We can't pass this up. It benefits the entire city!

  • Rick Robertson says,

Jobs Jobs Jobs - it is time to finally GET THIS DONE !

  • Kevin Archibald says,

Hey I very frequently take HSR from DUNDAS to Hamilton General Hospital for work. I very much support the light rail initiative.
My son had an accident last year and was wheelchair bound for 6 months - thankfully recovering now. It really shone a light on what life is like for people who use wheelchairs and mobility issues. LRT would be a massive help as they board at the same level as the vehicle, no more driver assisted ramp requirements, or only 2 wheelchair capacity like most busses have.
You can definitely tell from how people voted in Ward 13 for Mayoral election - we voted overwhelmingly for mayors who support LRT.

  • Myra Leyden says,

    Let's get this done!

    Let's revitalize Hamilton's lower city!

    Developers want it.

    Businesses want it.

I, a home owner, want it. My daughter and her fiancé want it.

    My neighbours want it.

I'm in Ward 4. The LRT would run by the end of my street.

Yes, the construction will be painful, but worth it.

    Worth it!!!!

Plus the savings that Hamilton will gain by tandem upgrades to the sewer/water lines is GREAT.

  • John Coakley says,

Let's get it done this time! Enough dilly-dallying.

  • Jennifer Lapointe says,

Please support the Hamilton LRT proposal. Investment in Hamilton's transit network is critical to our city's continued growth, and ability to attract new jobs and citizens. The debate over LRT has been been going back and forth for years, and we are all sick of the endless squabbling over BRT vs LRT. The federal government has now made a "take it or leave it" proposal and it would be foolish to reject this money in hopes of waiting for the *perfect* plan.
    Build the LRT!

  • Michael Casarin says,

Hamilton needs jobs and Hamilton council can provide jobs by supporting this LRT project.

  • Anna Vermaat says,

Development all along the LRT route will ultimately mean more tax dollars for the city to maintain and run the LRT into the future. Thousands of jobs will result not only with the construction of the LRT but businesses opening up all along the route.
We have used this type of transport system in other cities - there's nothing like it. Let's get with the times and just "get it done". Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

  • Craig den Ouden says,

Let's make LRT happen for the health and growth of our City

  • Tyler Pearson says,

    To all City Councillors,

Let's finally get shovels into the ground. We cannot and should not delay this any longer. It's time to put the political football on the sidelines once and for all and take a step forward together and simply accept there will never be a "perfect plan". This is an unprecedented opportunity the City has been given so please vote yes and enjoy having your name on the right side of history.

    To to move forward together.

    Cheers.
    Tyler Pearson

  • MIchael Hutchings says,

I have followed this for the 20+ years I have lived in Hamilton. This has been deliberated time and time again, with the votes almost always leaning in favour.

It's high time that council follow through with their decades of deliberations and votes on the LRT.

Throughout history, including the most recent municipal election, the City has voted in favour of constructing LRT. I wish councilors would stop playing political games with the future of transit and infrastructure support in the city.

Saying no to this opportunity would result in Hamilton being left behind again. Time to move forward and build for the city's future.

  • Doreen Stermann says,

I fully support the LRT project. This is a one time generational opportunity to rebuild our city. This is money from our government we will never be offered again if our Council declines this. You choose to refuse $3.4 B and our fate is locked in being a city that has no vision and will further harm any future we have in trying to attract businesses. This is the only shovel ready project that can get our local economy moving again, repair our aging infrastructure, build affordable housing in the mix too!
Do the right thing and support the LRT.
    Thank you

  • Isabel Belanger says,

An LRT would certainly facilitate travel throughout Hamilton from west to east. It would be great for people without vehicles to travel to shops and restaurants in downtown Hamilton as well as the shops in Eastgate. An LRT will bring Hamilton into the 21st century with accessible travel for everyone. I am very excited about the prospect of riding the LRT; I admit that I'm a Toronto transplant and one of the things I miss the most is their incredible streetcar network that took me just about anywhere I wanted to go.

  • Benjamin Crotty says,

Please vote to accept the money that is being offered to Hamilton to build an LRT. The route from Eastgate to McMaster will provide faster, easier transit for the entire lower city and drive investment and development along the entire route. Building the LRT will create jobs and allow Hamilton to upgrade aging infrastructure - work that will need to be done anyway, and can now be done as part of a larger project. This is an extraordinary opportunity for Hamilton.

  • Richard M Liebersbach says,

Take the money and build it!!! It will be used.

  • Marlene Balsdon says,

This project is absolutely necessary, and should be started ASAP.

  • Leah Wilson says,

I support the LRT in Hamilton.

  • kathy bresnahan says,

I strongly support the LRT both from an environmental point of view as well as an economic boost to all of the Hamilton region. Council’s vacillating and foot dragging does not reflect the sentiments of the majority of Hamiltonians. Our major’s successful campaign was a resounding endorsement of LRT.

  • John Day says,

I am begging you, all of you who sit on counsel and have a vote on this project..... please vote in support of, vote "yes" to this plan, say yes to progress, say yes to jobs, to updating the city center, to being part of a regional strategy on transit. I have been to Kitchener and rode on their updated system, it is amazing and we need the same in Hamilton....please....I am begging you ..... say yes....all of you...please

  • Robert Perrault says,

Building an LRT transportation system will be a great benefit for my family, our community, and linking the city of Hamilton together. The time, work, invested money, preparations, analysis, are exhausted. Everything points to this being a smart, forward thinking move. Let's build the LRT.

  • Mike Colyer says,

It would be the height of folly to decline this offer from both the provincial and federal governments which will help drag Hamilton kicking and screaming into the modern world. It has been made abundantly clear that the offer is for LRT only, not buses, not GO trains. As well as providing a modern transportation system to which we can add bus and rail connections over the years, this project will also update ancients sewer and water infrastructure that the city would otherwise be on the hook for. Think of the tax bill for that. Let's get on with it.

  • Frances Murray says,

Please accept this once-in-a-lifetime gift from the two levels of government and help create the city Hamilton can be.

    Thanks

  • Andrew Buxton says,

I support LRT for Hamilton and urge our city leaders to get on board with this important city building project. We cannotafford another lost decade of debate and indecision.

  • Valerie Warren says,

I support the Light Rail plan for Hamilton.

  • David Wilkinson says,

Having lived in several European cities and seeing first hand the incredible city building impact of an advanced LRT system I strongly support the current LRT plan for Hamilton. I believe it will have an immense positive impact on the future development of a vibrant downtown.
