It is finally time to build the LRT. This has gone one too long. It will be great for the city.
-
John Hannah says,
The destructive wave of a climate crisis is still building. To survive it, LRT is one solution. As this project recovers economic viability to the length of the line, we will happily see prosperity return to Hamilton's core and the emerging waterfront. Pedestrians supported by LRT, cyclists made safer by fewer cars and reduced dependence on fossil fuels and personal vehicles all add up to a healthier culture shift trending downtown - think Supercrawl. LRT viability and the funding support offered are smart growth for a smarter city. Start sharing the benefits of LRT. We need to hear a united council talking about positives in a post-pandemic recovery. This is like winning the lottery folks, but we don't just gain 3.4 billion in prosperity, we're also going to be happier, healthier, and smarter. And thus, I submit Hamilton's new motto.
You're welcome,
John Hannah -
George Overend says,
I cannot believe that this is even up for debate. Our city needs this so badly. It will make Hamilton a much better place to live. Do not listen to closed minded people. Let this happen.

-

Build this LRT. Enough fooling around with this. Get it built.
-
Bryan Webber says,
This is a generous once in a lifetime offer from the provincial and federal government. In addition to the clean transit, jobs and infrastructure upgrades it provides, it will also attract investment across the region, as a midsized urban centre and international transportation hub.
Let’s seize the day, Hamilton Council, and take our place in this city’s history as the generation that made the key decision that secured its future prosperity.
-
Catherine Doyle says,
This is a much needed boost to the Main St corridor. It will bring investment, it will make it far more convenient to shop and it will modernize our city!
-
Simon Carroll says,
As a resident of Dundas I unequivocally support the implementation of the LRT as a transformational project in Hamilton. The perceived issue of Hamilton covering the operational costs is not an issue and would be expected in any transit situation the City. Make the right choice and vote for this once in a generation offer and be on the right side of history.

Turning this down would be a massive blow to Hamilton and its future.
-

I fully support the Light Rail. This city will reach over 800000 by 2050. An East to West corridor is an essential step to increase accessibility and livability in our city

So much investment has gone into Hamilton, with the anticipation of the LRT. This will improve the lower city and add to the tax base. This in turn helps the entire city. A high tide lifts all boats.
-
Matthew Higginson says,
I want to see more equitable and accessible transit options for the folks in my community - at all levels of ability. This will help combat sprawl, support small businesses and contribute to Hamilton's action on climate change, as the fight to protect the environment becomes ever more urgent. We can get this city back to the level of service that it had at one point in time.
-
Deborah Hindley says,
Very pleased that this project is actually going to happen this time.
-
David Hindley says,
Thrilled to see this project go ahead.
-
Catherine Doyle says,
This LRT will bring accessibility to the city, bring business and life to the Main/King corridor, and encourage investors to build more housing to make Hamilton a greater version of itself.
There is a lot of potential here. The time to build large transit projects is not when there is a problem. Our province has suffered with this mindset, and we only start projects when the demand is incredibly high. This will pave the way for future transit options in this city and will bring our city into the modern era. -
David Dinnendahl says,
Please give Hamilton the fair chance that every other LRT project in Ontario was given. It's only right - especially as an elected official. I look forward to positive progress on this project!
-
Michael Walton says,
I heartily endorse the LRT project. I live within the span that the line is planned for and regularly walk from neighborhood to neighborhood in an effort to be covid safe. Otherwise I would be using transit. The best place to put transit is in a place where people will make use of it and my many walks have shown me the many residents who rely on it even in covid times. It is past the time for studying options. Let's get spades in the ground and start building the LRT system that Hamilton is fully deserving of.
-
Isabel Belanger says,
An LRT just makes sense in today's world. Hamilton is getting larger, and its shopping areas from east to west would be more accessible via transit.
I, like Councillor Nann, lived in Toronto except that I had 4 streetcar lines within walking distance. As a senior it just made getting places much easier and more pleasant. -
Shona Kennedy says,
This would be a great advantage to us because of the ease
To move onto and off the light rail when we visit family in Hamilton we are over 70 years..Hope we live to see the day!
A huge clean advantage for the city with the beautiful gardens! -
