Frances Murray says,
Thanks to the Transportation Task Force for reaching the same conclusion citizens and Hamilton municipal government reached through its research and community buy-in - LRT is the project that will give us the highest economic uplift and is also the greenest alternative for transit along our busiest corridor.
Please consider this project for a "shovel-ready" opportunity to give a boost to Ontario's economy after COVID-19. The employment this project will create will have an amazing effect on the Golden Horseshoe.
-
James McDermid says,
A must have in order to ensure the future of the city of Hamilton as a good place to live and work. I would also suggest this is a pre-requisite to attracting investment dollars, industry and commerce to the town.
-
Cora Muis says,
Even though I may never use it since I live rural, I feel the LRT is the WAY to A HEALTHY city.
-
James Skimming says,
Let's get those shovels in the ground and get Hamilton back on track for the 21st century! Nothing gives the re-development of this city more confidence than light rail
-
Cameron Swan says,
The LRT will bring business investment amd jobs to Hamilton. Things that will be sorely needed when the corona virus crsis is over. Our transit routes are also outdated and desperately need uograding. It's the perfect time.
-
Richard Robertson says,
This thing needs to be built Enough stalling. Local economy needs an immediate boost. Lets get on with it!!
-
Robert Burrows says,
This is a MUST project for both Hamilton and the surrounding area!
-
Margaret Moore says,
The Hamilton LRT is an infrastructure project that would positively affect millions of people (the commuters who use it of course and there’s a big need for more of this in the Golden Horseshoe) but also those who don’t but will face less congestion and of course everyone who breathes the air or who is adversely impacted by human induced climate change
-
Michael Majcher says,
Please seriously look at moving ahead with LRT for Hamilton. The documented enormous and numerous benefits that will come from this project are going to be needed now more than ever. There aren't any silver bullet solutions. But LRT is the one solution that has been proven time and again to bring the most benefits in the long run. As a citizen who lives in ward 5 I can see great value in using the LRT, both for saving me time as well as car costs. But you need a fast and effective transportation network to get people out of their cars. And the LRT has been shown to do that more than any other option. Please do whats best but also the right thing for Hamilton and area.
-
Richard Gelder says,
After a brief "hiatus" we certainly hope that the provincial government now recognizes that the Hamilton community wants Light Rail Transit. It is, indeed, an integral part of any strategy for smart, future development and a means to grow the tax base, free from the need to advance suburban sprawl.
What better way to emerge from the economic challenges posed by the pandemic than this important and game-changing infrastructure investment that will address the need for sustainable transit, development, growth of the tax base and climate change.
-
Daniel Morris says,
My wife and I are long-time supporters of LRT. We live in east Hamilton and we are confident that the completion of this project will help rejuvenate our downtown core; our neighbourhood.
We live here. We are tired of seeing King street stores boarded up, derelict, for lack of commercial stimulus. No shop owner is going to invest in a long-term commitment based on a bus line!
Please grow up and understand thIs long view economic strategy instead of pandering to the short-term convenience of knuckle-draggers who worry that they won’t be able to get through the centre of the city fast enough.
-
V Wayne Elshaw says,
Through it all, I continue to support the LRT project in Hamilton. As I see it, it's best way to provide reliable, clean and efficient public transportation in Hamilton. The planning and environmental studies have already been completed. As well, what better way to provide employment and get the economy moving again after the pandemic?
If you don't believe me, just look at what that Chamber of Commerce and LIUNA have to say. They are just two voices amongst a multitude in Hamilton that support this project.
Hamilton needs LRT! -
Jennifer Ridge says,
Dear Elected Officials,
First, I would like to applaud you on your response and management of the current pandemic. Thank you.
Second, as we start to focus on rebuilding our local and provincal economies, infrastructure projects will undoubtedly be key to our success, but also provide an opportunity to rebuild for a better future.
Now is the time to put partisan politics aside and finally approved the Hamilton LRT. We want it, we need it and it will provide countless benefits to many citizens during this important time of rebuilding.
Please do the right thing.
Thank you,
Jenny -
Diana Billings says,
I've lived in Hamilton for 62 years. My Dad also born and raised here and saw the Incline Rail on the mountain back in his days. It was his dream to see this rail line, even before it was an actual plan. He passed 10 yrs ago and I will never stop fighting for the LRT. Come on, let's create jobs and get with the times Premier! Ps: great job running Covid out the door! DOUG Ford for PM!
-
Jeff Teal says,
For the future growth and development of the City of Hamilton as a world class city, it is absolutely necessary that the City of Hamilton continues to develop a progressive transit system that includes the LRT.
-
Aman Singh says,
I hope the Ministry of Transport now listens to the recommendation of the Taskforce she appointed. The message is clear- LRT is the #1 option for transport and infrastructure support the City of Hamilton needs. Especially now that the economies are in recession- getting LRT back on track would act as a catalyst to open and provide so many job opportunities that have been lost due to COVID-19.
-
Gianni Charalambopoulos says,
Please get this project back on track... The lower city needs this investment
-
Ellen Morris says,
I have been a strong supporter of LRT since its inception. It will go a long way to bringing our city into the 21st century. It will also give a big chunk of infrastructure the update it so badly needs. Let’s not drag our feet on this any longer. Thank you for hearing us.
-
Pat Whelan says,
The conventional wisdom seems to be that this crisis will speed up existing trends. If more companies give flexibility to their workers to live where they like, Hamilton's growth will accelerate. We need LRT to (1) handle that growth, (2) take full advantage of it by putting our best foot forward as urban, modern community to live and work.
-
R Ian Downer says,
I believe the LRT project is just the start to help revitalize the City of Hamilton.
I have had the opportunity to visit cities across North America and Europe where a vital transit system of rail and bus components make travelling around a pure joy.
-
Peter Malysewich says,
This is the right project at the right time. It not only hits all the right items for jobs, health - water and sewage - improvements, support for lower income workers with reliable transportation, it also will signal to new employers that we have everything the new case of employees look for in a great city to live and bring up families/
-
Theresa McCuaig says,
Ministers, please fund the long-awaited Hamilton LRT project. All its environmental testing and feasibility studies have been completed satisfactorily. Detailed drawings and budgets were officially approved. A trained and practiced LiUNA workforce stands ready to build it when quarantine is lifted. Residents along the proposed route want the LRT completed to prevent the expropriated houses from devolving into urban blight. Hamilton's LRT merits attention as one of the first federal projects to boost the economy after COVID-19 restrictions end. Thanks for rolling forward with this fully-prepared transit project.
-
Brett Clowes says,
Follow through with promises
-
James Clairmont says,
I believe the LRT is a most fundamental necessity for the City of Hamilton. We have witnessed other municipalities grow and prosper with these initiatives( Vancouver, Ottawa, Kitchener). It is well past our turn to receive the Provincal support that has passed us by for decades
-
Robert Bowers says,
I think it is about time to stop playing politics and work for the people. That’s what we expect and that is your job. All those who are in a position to move the LRT into reality, please do it !
-
Erin Mallon says,
It’s not the time to back track on promises of funding for the best transit for Hamilton. LRT is the best option and this has been proven. Now is the time to double down on energy efficient, pedestrian centric, density supporting transit that is not dependent on fossil fuels. It’s time to prepare for 10, 20 and 50 plus years into the future of cities and learn from Europe and Asia how to build transit and walkable cites. Busses are not the answer and more roads will create more problems. We must ween ourselves off of fossil fuels and the personal vehicle. It’s time for Ontario to put our money where our mouth is. Support communities, support the people and make good decisions for the future of our environment.
-
Eddy Mekli says,
It just makes sense!
Not only have Hamiltonians been supporting the LRT for over a decade, but the project is the perfect economic stimulus for a post covid recovery!
-
Matthew Snider says,
LRT has been and will continue to be the top rapid transit option for the city of Hamilton. Once Covid-19 is over we NEED projects like this one to jump start the economy as well as provide long term, permanent transportation for this rapidly growing city. I have always, and will always continue to support the Hamilton LRT project and I hope the multiple levels of government will make the right decision to put this project back on the table and put shovels in the ground. It has been long enough!
-
Nick Policelli says,
Please let’s act quickly on this. It’s almost shovel ready. A big boost for Hamilton. Creates jobs. Economic activity.
-
Bob and Teresa Hanley says,
How often do you see Labour unions and the Chamber of Commerce emphatically supporting the same issue.
The LRT is simply the right thing to do. It could be argued that we don't need the LRT but I haven't heard an argument that would sway me from thinking it is the best option for Hamilton's economy and environment. Hamilton is moving in the right direction and this is the shortest path to the finish line.
