  • Elyse van Nie says,

Please help Hamilton get the LRT. Keep our cities growth and development on track!

  • James McDermid says,

Must be built! Only way to relieve incredible traffic chaos on the qew. If we think it’s bad now, 10 years from now it will be horrible.

  • Nino Cedrone says,

Its time for the elected politicians to start giving back to all citizens that contribute through taxes for the future of the cities.

  • John Willms says,

Mr. Ford I voted for you because you shared a vision of Hamilton with an LRT. It is very disappointing that you have cancelled this. You are very aware of the battles that Toronto faced and still does regarding transit and the back and forth. I did not imagine that you were going to do the same to Hamilton.

  • Kimberley Eng says,

The LRT has such a positive economic impact for Hamilton. Hamilton is a larger city (pop) than Kitchener with 5km less of track and therefore it should not be the outrageous amount the Ford government stated. STOP penalizing Hamilton along partisan lines!

  • Bill Moore says,

Our sons live in Calgary AB and their CTrain runs thru the city. It is very much used as people don’t need a car to get around and no need for downtown parking which is at a premium in Hamilton. I feel that a LRT would do the same for Hamilton and would also get rid of many buses and polluting autos. It has certainly worked in other cities like Calgary. Thnx

  • Allan Avery says,

Without the LRT, which is the future of public transit, Hamilton will be reduced to an second class, economically retarded community. Our premier has absolutely no interest in Hamilton. His focus is strictly on Toronto & Mississauga.

  • Margaret Jones says,

I grew up in Hamilton and feel we deserve better than to be promised money for LRT and then to have it taken away. When other cities are being reassured that they will have LRT like Mississauga after denying Hamilton because of cost when theirs is costing more than ours. Where is the justice for Hamilton LRT. I want our LRT back as it be very helpful for commuters.

  • Marina Joseph says,

The proposed LRT is more economical to operate than buses, both presently and in the future, as fuel prices increase over time.

In addition to lower operating costs, LRT carries many more people than buses at a lower operating cost.

    Cleaner for the city/environment.

Should attract more people out of their cars.

  • Ailine Hess says,

Having made use of Calgary’s LRT while visiting, I was impressed with city access, efficiency and cleanliness. It also produces less green house gases than buses or cars.

  • Kim Kilburn says,

Toronto's transit system can't keep pace. In Hamilton there is the ability to work with the growing demand for affordable housing around the GTA by investing in public transit. Government should learn from previous mistakes and invest in growth as it happens, not try to build band aid solutions when they finally realize their mistakes. Infrastructure solutions should be forward thinking not backward decades late patchwork!

  • Mike Yuen says,

Growth depends on transportation. We need this to get the golden horseshoe into the 21st century.

This is a great opportunity to initiate the latest in green mass transportation and be the model for other places around the world.

  • Dave Biehler says,

To move our City forward and to secure financial stability we must invest in LRT.
The surrounding communities will benefit in many ways least of all will be new development reliving the tax burden.
Putting more buses and cars on the streets is a move backwards. Adding highways and bypasses is not what we need. Please reconsider your decision to cancel LRT Its what we need and want in Hamilton

  • Mike Brook says,

For a "Ontario is open for business" premier, this is a no brainer. The LRT will spur lots of investment. "Going electric" is also good for business.

  • Corey Wilson says,

The transit system in Hamilton is horrendous and the LRT would help solve this problem. Secondly the LRT would surely attract rapid commercial and residential investments that could accompany Hamilton's growth.

Not to mention the city is laid on a grid of one way streets that could easily accommodate the projects.

  • Catherine Ahern says,

As a mother of two children who will be using the LRT throughout their teenage years, I am a firm supporter of this safe, equitable and environmental initiative. Please follow through with LRT as planned.

  • Eugene Spanier says,

This is surely the way of the future for Hamilton. We need to get it on track ASAP!

  • RAJ PATEL says,

As part of day to day commute to work. We highly recommend to consider our request for HAMILTON LRT for us and for future generation.

  • Kate Greenland says,

    Hamilton needs this.

  • Ronald Jenkins says,

It makes sense to do this now and promote the expansion of our city

  • Mike D'Andrea says,

Having the LRT in Hamilton makes too much sense for this city to move forward in life. Moving people around efficiently makes Hamilton more attractive to investors & the employees they hire. The list of reasons goes on. Lets get this done!

  • James Clairmont says,

This city was so terribly let down. After years of being in the doldrums Hamilton had something to look forward to that would be a major player in downtown re-development.
The LRT needs to be built in Hamilton.

  • DAVID ENGLISH says,

    Do the right thing Doug!

  • Evan Robb says,

The cancelation of the LRT and the way it was done is an absolute disgrace. Hamilton has debated this issue for years and the last municipal election gave a clear mandate to proceed with this project. To have the rug pulled out from under us at the last minute based on false numbers and crass political calculations Is a slap in the face to all hamiltonians and must be reversed. The province continues to fund projects in the GTA that are of similar cost to Hamilton's LRT but
somehow ours no longer makes sense. Our council needs live up our city's moniker "the ambitious city" and put pressure on the Ford government to reinstate the LRT.

  • R Haslett says,

    LRT supporter.
Very disappointed with lack of Conservative funding + support in every area and not just with the LRT.

  • Brandon Smithson says,

Ten years from now, with gridlock traffic, you'll wonder why better transit isn't an option. We need this

  • Mmabatho Seete says,

The $5.5 billion number is clearly manufactured and looks like a scary made up number to justify treating Hamilton's LRT project differently from every other project in Ontario. What is the REAL reason for this suspicious move to pull out of the LRT?

  • Karlie Bond says,

Hamilton needs the LRT! Due to low income areas and the increase of students, it is needed for people to stay connected and be able to access the cities amenities easily. It will help drive tourism!

The city is gentrifying at a very slow rate, however, the population is growing dramatically. This will help Hamilton lift itself out of the slums and into a bustling metropolis which people desire to live in and visit. As a real estate agent, Hamilton still maintains a negative stigma, however it is the only place many of my clients can (for now) afford to live. The LRT would increase its desirability and improve the city as a whole. Create jobs, increase community, improve transit accessibility and make Hamilton a more interesting place to visit and stay.

  • Hans Vermaat says,

I will be 75 years of age soon. The odds
of me benefitting fully from the LRT, considering I live in Ancaster is slim, however the benefits for the good of all of Hamilton will be realized by the next generation of people who will come to realize that clean public transit is vital in fighting pollution and climate change.
LRT is a step in the right direction. Everything comes with a price tag. Let us please be honest with the math. What we have been fed in the last few weeks does not add up.

  • Teresa LaFave says,

The cancellation of Hamilton's LRT stinks of political bias. How is it that the Mississauga LRT is a-ok but somehow we are being left in the dirt. Hamilton has been in the LRT business for 10 years now, to cancel us at this time in the project is unfair and dismissive.

Let's get Hamilton back on track with LRT, we can make this work. Shouldn't matter which party is in power, we need to build transit. Hamiltonian's deserve to be respected, we voted in our mayor knowing he was pro LRT, please Premier Ford, show some love to the Hammer.
