    PLEASE CONTINUE WITH LRT PLANS
WE ARE IN 2021 lets join in with times
We need this transportation option in Hamilton
We are a big city that is growing and we have to offer easy connections for all of us
we would be crazy not to accept the funding that is on the table
    PLEASE PROCEED

  • Angela Pugliese says,

There are so many benefits to the LRT, from my experience the fact that it will commute people to their destinations in a safe, fast, seamless manner, eleve the stress this is how I felt when I used this form of transportation outside of Canada but as someone who has used many forms of transportation I can say from my experience the LRT does deliver exactly what it says, I have been on electric buses, HSR, La Tram which was the name in Italy and I can say from my experience LRT would be the best solution, commuters on a day to day experience stress from commuting, we are faced with congestion, parking, wait times that exceed, most important as well it will create jobs that are so desperately needed right now, infrastructure I may live in the Mountain Area but I support this project, I hope City Council sees the same vision I do

  • Bill Elliot says,

Let’s get the LRT MOU signed and start the end of suburban sprawl, increase tax revenue for all of the City along the LRT line, pay for upgraded infrastructure and create much needed jobs.

This is just Phase 1 of BLAST.

Don’t let our $$ go to Waterloo Region for Phase 2 to Cambridge of their successful LRT.

  • Allan Avery says,

I believe that council will come to it's collective sense and consent to the go ahead of this important project!!

  • Denzil Carnegie says,

    We need this NOW!

  • Nik Bennett says,

I have lived in Hamilton since 1980. I am originally from Manchester, England. I return frequently and when I do I use the Metrolink there. It works. Manchester is booming.
I used to think that Hamilton reminded me of Manchester.
Stop faffing about and build the bloody thing.
    Ambitious City, my arse.

  • Tina Dort says,

Please support the Hamilton LRT. I want you to have the vision to build a better city! LRT is the first fully funded step to getting world class transit.

  • Frances Neufeld says,

Let's get on, Hamilton Councillors. with behaving like a City with purpose, looking to the future with a desire to connect our City better, to attract new private investment, to drive growth around the transit corridor and particularly downtown. Renewing our center City will be better for us all.

  • John Morris says,

Stop playing political games with our futures. This transit investment will not come our way again in our lifetimes. This project has been debated over and over for decades and needs your leadership and vision to make it proceed. Stop the slow decay of the city core and build the first leg of the BLAST network for transit.

  • Wayne MacPhail says,

Enough ward healing, posturing and politics. LRT is an important step forward for Hamilton. Let’s get on board.

  • James Clairmont says,

Please make the right progressive decision for Hamilton. LRT is a must.

  • Franz Perez says,

Stop the delays. Let's get the LRT started

  • Brad Clarke says,

Please don't delay further and take the money to build an LRT. This city needs more transit options and the LRT will do that. Remember there is an election next year and people tend to get upset about losing $3.4b of funding.

  • Angela Morgan says,

Vote for the LRT. There has never been a better time - Let's get on with it!

  • Tordis Coakley says,

Dear City Council: please make the correct decision and vote yes ro LRT. Hamilton needs help to become the city it can be, and accepting this funding package for LRT will push the goal of improvement forward. Thank you for putting the best interest of the City as a whole first.

  • Adam Chojecki says,

The LRT is a big help to not only improving transit through Hamilton, but it would also help to replace all the aging infrastructure through that corridor. Currently I feel really unsafe walking on the King/Main corridor because of their 1 way direction and people driving at crazy speeds and the narrow sidewalks. The LRT will make King a much nicer and calmer place to walk or cycle, recalling improving the city overall.

  • Joanne Hudspith says,

We need to get back on track with the LRT.

With rising fuel costs, environmental considerations, the overwhelming cost of maintaining the infrastructure of suburban sprawl, it is important that we invest in infrastructure that addresses these issues.

This investment is not short term; it is not for those of us writing these letters, but for our children who will either have to live with our mess or benefit from our wisdom.

  • Matthew Grosfeld says,

Turning this money down will be an unprecedented error in judgement that will haunt the city of Hamilton for years to come. This city council needs to realize that opportunities like this come along very rarely, and must put aside the petty interests of their particular regions and vote together to put into action a shovel-ready LTR project is the right choice for the city as a whole.
Let’s not allow this money to be reallocated to another city!

  • James Walsh says,

    Please don't waste this opportunity.

  • Nina Clements says,

I support the LRT for all the reasons stated in John-Paul Danko's article in today's Spectator.

  • Sean Hurley says,

Along the transit corridor, there are food deserts defined as no grocery stores within a kilometre. The LRT puts five grocery stores within easy and convenient access.

LRT has pre-pay, all-door and level boarding so passengers can wheel their buggies on as well as their wheelchairs at any open door. LRT connects people with healthcare, jobs, and entertainment nearly as conveniently as driving.

Building LRT replaces hundreds of millions of dollars of ageing infrastructure that we would otherwise pay for ourselves. It makes the transit corridor AODA compliant. Not just the LRT but the lights, the intersections, and all city infrastructure along the path. A first for Hamilton.

LRT opens the corridor to pedestrian friendly development putting stores and people on the street. It invites new commercial and residential development increasing the tax base and adding to available housing. It provides families the opportunity to live with out a car potentially saving thousands of dollars that could instead be spent on affording a better quality of life.

It injects a billion+ dollars directly into our city to be spent on contractors, services, and materials.

    Please don't squander this opportunity.

  • Marie Zilik says,

Hamilton needs and deserve the LRT. This is an opportunity to bring progress back to our city. Jobs, affordable housing, economic development. The whole city will benefit from the LRT.

Let’s go Hamilton, Let’s build the LRT.

    Marie

  • BRENT CHISLETT says,

Enough with the debate and endless reports. We know this will be good for the city-- get those shovels in the ground already!

  • Edward Harris says,

    I support LRT
    No to BRT
No to another highway or bypass
No to urban sprawl over farmlands and watersheds
Stop paving over our sustainable future and invest in the densification of our cities urban centre
My family and I want to continue to live and work in Hamilton and visit the beautiful nature spaces that Flamborogh, Stoney Creek, Ancaster and Binbrook offer us. If we don’t shift our future plans all that will be left in our suburban communities will be mega mansions, highways and box centres.
We live on treaty lands and we are held to the same expectations of The Dish With One Spoon Wampum agreement. Let’s protect our shared green spaces and prioritize our future city centre to support the sustainable development we need.

  • Marie Zilik says,

Hamilton needs and deserve the LRT. This is an opportunity to bring progress back to our city. Jobs, affordable housing, economic development. The whole city will benefit from the LRT.

Let’s go Hamilton, Let’s build the LRT.

    Marie

  • Scott Payette says,

As a taxpaying Hamiltonian, I strongly urge every councilor to vote yes to our current LRT project and to NOT vote for delay this coming Wednesday. There are more supporters out there then a few vocal, misinformed naysayers. Hamilton will never get this infrastructure gift again. We can't afford to say no.

  • Michael Piekny says,

The only way, Hamilton can be a major city is provide what every other Major city already has, an efficient rail system to not only move people, but improve the businesses along the whole route.

  • Brendan Duke says,

    Hello my dear city councillors,

Please don't delay any longer, and vote for LRT to move forward! Then Hamilton can move forward too.

At this point there is nothing for you to gain by opposing LRT. Even Hamiltonians who dislike LRT understand the ridiculousness of turning down a $3.4B infrastructure investment.

Make us proud and vote for LRT!

  • Bonnie McInnes says,

The $3.4 million offer from the federal & provincial governments provides Hamilton with a tremendous opportunity to upgrade its infrastructure, invest in public transit, and grow the city along the LRT corridor.

  • Chris Schotsman says,

I wholeheartedly support moving forward with the LRT plan, even as a resident of the West Mountain. This is good for our city as a whole. These opportunities to take bold steps for our city are very infrequent and we need to stop the paralysis by analysis and get going - NOW!
