  • Steve Sut says,

Don’t let the LRT become a Red Hill Valley expressway
Let’s get the shoes in and start the LRT…enough money wasted already.

  • Jacob Stief says,

If our city would like to continue / begin to attract talent, investment, and generally improve the quality of life for its residents we cannot afford to delay the LRT any longer. Infrastructure is crumbling, folks are languishing without employment, enough is enough, let’s move forward and look forward for Hamilton!

  • Ellen Morris says,

Dear Hamilton Council, it would be a crime to vote down the present LRT offer on the table. Please do the right and honourable thing and vote to support the LRT. I for one would be incredibly grateful! Thank you in advance.

  • Doug Niessen says,

If this does not pass I will be voting to replace the members of council who oppose. DO we want to live in the past or move our city forward with the LRT?

  • Diane Eisenberger says,

We need this economic stimulus especially after covid to kick start our community. Everyone wins.

  • Peter Sinclair says,

As a McMaster Graduate, I know how important it is to connect the University to Downtown and the rest of the city. With billions of dollars of free money from the federal and provincial governments, investing in LRT is a clear win for Hamilton.

  • Nadine Bernacki says,

LRT will help Hamilton become the world-class city it deserves to be. This project is good for the city residents and businesses, good for the mitigation of climate change, and good for the economy of Hamilton. If council were to refuse this offer it would be a severe blow to the recovery of our city.

  • Jonathan Michel says,

This most recent offer of LRT funding, which includes $200 million for much needed infrastructural upgrades that would be otherwise billed to tax payers, appears to be a no-brainer.

And yet I’ve watched the same few loudest councillors (who all represent a similar sun-setting, suburban demographic) ruin similar greater-good opportunities in the past (whether LRT related or even repairing relations with local LGBTQ folks).

Don’t let the 20th-century status-quo thinking of this highly-vocal old guard ruin Hamilton’s chance at doing something collectively beneficial -not to mention voted for and publicly supported- for future generations.

Thank you, to the voices of reason in the room

  • Chris Whitehead says,

Even as a resident of Ward 15, I’m tremendously excited by the opportunities that the LRT project offer. I’d strongly encourage all Hamilton City Council members to support this new LRT plan and make an exciting investment in the future of our city.

  • Michelle Sylvain says,

I am very much in favour and support the building of the LRT and am urging city council to not be short-sighted about the long term benefits that our city will reap from this. A huge need will be met with an LRT as there are so many individuals in this city who would require a way to get around (myself included). It's one of the only drawbacks of living here (I miss subways systems dreadfully). This is aside from the environmental benefits, which added busses will only make worse. Busses will only clog up our roads. Now that there are all these vacant storefronts along King Street, please do not leave this city looking like a wasteland. Build the LRT.

  • Thomas Campisi says,

The Hamilton LRT is nothing but an amazing investment for our city. The LRT will create jobs and make so many commutes easier. Proceed with our LRT, and make this city better.

  • Hans + Anna Vermaat says,

We moved out of the "burbs" just over 3 years ago and could not be happier about our decision. We can walk to all the necessities, there is a bus stop less than a block away to take us down town. The LRT will be such a plus to the city and allow the extra busses to be used in other less served areas. Increased tax assessments all along the route with up-graded real estate, infrastructure, and bring the old lunch bucket town into the new century. The environment will have a chance to catch a breath. Please just get it done.

  • Robert Paul Haslett says,

Shovel ready for infrastructure renewal. Ready for post Covid economic recovery. A once in a generation opportunity.

  • Christopher Percy says,

    Dear Councillor(s),

I'm writing today in support of the Hamilton LRT.

As anyone can see, our lower city is in dire need of positive change, and the B-Line LRT is the perfect opportunity to start. A green transit project that will improve neighbourhoods and livability.

Don't forget the Lower City! Please vote YES to this incredible Federal / Provincial investment and leave your mark on the future greatness of Hamilton

Other Ontario cities are moving forward with similar large transit projects, and we must keep Hamilton competitive if we are to thrive in the future.

    Thank you,

    Shane Percy
    Ward 2

  • Eileen White says,

LRT will drastically reduce pollution from gas & diesel vehicles in the downtown and will encourage more residents to shop & dine locally. Hamiltonians need progressive action now. Council must support moving forward to the completion of LRT now.

  • Heather Kindy says,

  • Nick Policelli says,

Toronto has an LRT and is building a new one along Eglinton. They’ve also had a subway running for 60+ years. Why can’t Hamilton have an efficient people mover too? This would make a big difference. No more delays.

  • Ann Moore says,

Please build LRT. Hamilton needs to build infrastructure and social housing. We need LRT to bring our great city into the 21st century

  • Roberta Gail Hunter says,

This is the time for Hamilton to do something great for the city now and for the future of Hamilton.
LRT will help us move forward. The planning has gone on for years. Time to get the shovels in the ground.
Hamilton and the citizens are ready for this opportunity.

  • Sterling Holmes says,

I am a longterm Hamiltonian at 18 years. Always lived right in the core in Durand and Corktown. Love the city, hate the small buses! I don't drive so transit is my lifeblood and I am an expert at what would work for dedicated transit users. Especially those of a certain age! We need the LRT for more comfortable, accessible and spacious travel. People who do not rely on cars understand what brings people and thus money into a locale. It's great pedestrian communities. LRT will ensure Hamilton flourishes instead of languishing in the current veiled suppression of sustainable development. Just do it. Or forever be the politicians too dim to accept billions of dollars in transit funding.

  • Raymond Braun says,

I have always been in favour !! But then I am a railway and street-car fan. At age 91 I won't see the LRT;But they should split the tracks downtown for some distance, East on Main and West on King, like they did it 3 times in the Kitchener-Waterloo Lrt line and that is a beauty !!! R. Braun

  • Tom Flemming says,

    Support the LRT; it's a no-brainer.

  • Jeffrey Taylor says,

Lets get this thing going for heavens sake, if it takes much longer I'll get my shovel and start it myself, I've seen LRT's in the UK, Dublin & Europe and they work, PERIOD!
I'm happy to pay a few dollars more in taxes from my seniors pension for the honour of making Hamilton a first class city, heck we were quite happy talking about shoveling snow from our sidewalks and paying for the pleasure, I'm happy to swap, you give the city an LRT & I'll shovel my snow, and I'm 75! I may never need to use the LRT, living on the West mountain, but hundreds of thousands of others will, and it's them & the future of the city I'm thinking of, please give us the project approval before I take the big golden LRT ride in the sky, I want to see the city finish the project before I take that ride!

  • Brian Jantzi says,

There is nothing more important to the sustained wellbeing of Hamilton than proceeding WITH URGENCY, on the full LRT project! Hamilton will find itself in a significant net profit situation when factoring in how it doesn’t need to contribute further capital but will reap multiple revenue streams. Net profit! The federal government and provincial government are providing all the capital! Properties were already acquired for the project and those dormant lands just sit there as eyesores, doing nothing for the city of Hamilton and it’s people. It is UNBELIEVABLE that a single councillor would consider saying NO to this gift from the gods!

  • Steve Deady says,

It's amazing that people do not understand the huge benefit that this project will bring to the area !

  • Danielle Steenwyk-Rowaan says,

In order for Hamilton to cut our carbon emissions and make the city more accessible to people who choose not to have cars or to have one less car per household, we need investments like the LRT. Can you imagine being able to get across the city that easily? It would revolutionize the city!

  • David Zalepa says,

    Dear City Councilor's
I have lived and visited a number of Cities in the world and the most successful cities all have one thing in common. One form of decent public transit to move people easily throughout the city. Face the facts most people will not take a bus. But they will take a subway, street car or an LRT. That is just the way it is in our world. How many people would admit to taking a Bus across the Country? Zero. How many people brag about their glorious train ride across the country. All of them. The LRT is an extremely important first building block to re-build this crumbling city. Look around at some of the neighbourhoods. Many are ready for a bulldozer. That is another fact. You can talk about improving buses but no one will ever take a bus unless that was the only option on the table. And even then they may turn to walking or a bike. To bring development and prosperity to this City an LRT is needed. There is no other way. Take this opportunity or spend another century stuck in the mud trying to pull the City out to move on.

  • Brian Thwaits says,

Please support LRT… especially for those who may not own single-family homes or personal vehicles. They’re likely the ones who will most benefit from improved transit, and they need our help. Thank you!
