  • Catherine Johnston says,

I believe in the LRT and put my name on this list to bring it back to the table. We need to keep moving forward, not standing still. Just like water that isn’t allowed to flow- it will so stagnant. Our city worked hard to promote and protect and voted yes to the LRT. Please don’t take our future growth away.

  • Dylan A. says,

I'm not going to reiterate what has already been proven through studies, audits and a local election. The LRT is no longer an option, it is a promise that the people of Hamilton have accepted and already started paying for. This isn't the time to make excuses, break promises and throw taxpayers' money to the wind; it's time to get to work.

  • Alex Berry says,

The planned LRT was a major factor in our decision to move to Hamilton from Toronto. We are sick and tired of living in a city where the transit can’t keep up with the needs of its citizens. As the population grows in Hamilton, alternative means of transit will be absolutely necessary. If funding isn’t provided now, the cost will be much higher in the future.

  • Aaron Bieber says,

I live on the mountain, and the LRT does not really affect me in any way.

But the infrastructure upgrades that would go into downtown Hamilton, really make a lot of sense.

  • Keegan Lodder says,

The proposed LRT represented a huge opportunity for community growth as well as a substantial step towards better infrastructure for a struggling downtown core in Hamilton—this city has always been held back by poor, or less than optimal, infrastructure and transit development is the obvious next step for unlocking the massive potential of Hamilton. The idea of this development has already changed the shape of our downtown core, bringing investors and businesses into our city who would otherwise not be interested and driving the real estate market crazy over the past 3 years. Hamilton will remain right where it is unless drastic steps towards development are taken—the proposed LRT project fits the bill and will be worth every penny.

  • Dennis Baker says,

I have long been a supporter of the LRT project for Hamilton. Many consultations were held to explain the plans and seek citizen input.
I think it is important to review the plan and make the LRT a reality for the city. I would be pleased to discuss it at any time. I am retired but spent my career in many cities all around the world. Similar transit systems have been very important when well designed.
    Sincerely

    Dennis Baker

  • mark bortis says,

Please make the Hamilton LRT come to life. It would begin a backbone from which the rest of an advanced transit system could be branched out from for the rest of the city. This is needed for any large urban city to build and grow with. Yes Hamilton dragged its heels and waited too long and played political games , but leaving out the politics it is needed by the citizens of this city.

  • Anthony Falcao says,

Keep our city moving in the right direction!

  • Sylvia Brade says,

Premier Ford— please fix this error. It hurts the working class more than any other sector. That's me, and many of my friends and neighbours in this city.

My Hamilton has a vision for economic and social growth. We voted for it fairly. Now, we're asking only for the same thing in return. Restore a fair process.

Mr. Ford. Get us back on track.

  • Megan Preece says,

Once again the Ford government has failed to see the benefits investments TODAY can do for the future of a city and for the population of that city. Once again the Ford government has targeted Hamilton. In canceling the LRT and deliberately fudging the numbers to justify their decision, the Ford government has once again shown that they are not "For the People" of Ontario but rather "For the people who voted BLUE."
The LRT would have improved so many lives and helped move Hamilton forward. Modernizing a city, especially transport, is never going to be a cheap endeavor but by god is it ever a crucial one.

  • Mark Galli says,

Please reconsider your terrible, short-sighted decision to cancel the Hamilton LRT. The LRT would provide cost effective mass transit for the city that is desperately needed. This Investment in transit will more than pay for itself.

  • Sean Ernst says,

A modern city needs a modern transit solutions. The LRT fits current and future needs. Especially considering the 30,000 plus McMaster students and staff across the city.

  • Sean Hurley says,

LRT is about access and opportunity. Groceries, shopping and entertainment becomes available across the length of the corridor erasing food deserts. LRT brings workers and employers together from across the city. Housing in East Hamilton becomes a viable option for McMaster students and staff. Dedicated, frequent and reliable transit is critical infrastructure for every successful city. The future of Hamilton should not be decided by those who view hard work and city building as inconvenient.

  • Stuart Karrow says,

We need better transit in Hamilton. There are too many cars on the road and pedestrians feel unsafe walking around the city. Improving public transit initiatives with the LRT would help create greener transportation, increase gentrification on the eastern portion of the city and provide jobs for many.

  • vanessa pottery says,

i feel like this would be great for our city

  • Kendra Cheeseman says,

Hamilton deserves the LRT, and the province has promised to back the investment - failure to do so is intentionally attacking a voter base based on their partisanship.
Respect the entire province, and commit to improving public transit, ultimately improving quality of life for the Hamilton community and increasing economic opportunities.

  • Ellen Southall says,

Please reinstate the province’s commitment to Hamilton’s LRT

  • Shawn ODonnell says,

The city is experiencing an obvious renaissance please do not make bad decisions that will stop this from continuing

  • Brydon Eastman says,

While I live in Hamilton, I had the pleasure of teaching an Engineering Calculus course this term at the University of Waterloo. I was able to ride the Ion LRT many times. As a Math instructor and PhD Candidate I'd be happy to show the Premier just how bad their arithmetic and estimates are for Hamilton's own LRT. No first world city of significant economic import lacks a reliable transit system. Build the LRT, the cities economy will prosper from it. Leave a legacy for the future and say Yes to the LRT.

  • Tim Belliveau says,

We need to push forward with this transformative project. We've gone too far to stop now.
It's simply inadequate for the government to shut this down with no information, or at least no evidence of their claims.
    We deserve better.

  • Jackie Dekar says,

I am the fourth generation of my family to be born and raised in the core of the city. I spent every Saturday going to the market with my grandparents, picking up bread at National bakery and shopping at Eaton’s, Robinson’s, Kresge’s and Woolworth’s. The downtown core was alive back then. I loved how close I lived to the action! It’s been so sad for me, personally, to witness the decline of our beloved downtown. We need LRT in Hamilton for so many reasons but for my nostalgic heart, one important reason is to return the downtown core to its former self. To bring businesses and consumers back to the core and ensure Hamilton is a city of the future so more generations of my family stay and love this city as much as I do. This is our city, our Hamilton and our voices matter.

  • Stacy Mitchell says,

Come on, let's get with the program. The funds were approved and then a great big nope from the Ford government. Keep Hamilton progressive and ready for the future. Public transportation makes Hamilton competitive and inclusive.

  • Kevin McCafferty says,

Get this thing going. A municipal election was fought over it. This community deserves the same attention as others are getting. Democracy should mean something. Does Mr. Ford just represent those who voted for him, or everyone?

  • Adam Gallant says,

The failure of my council and Ford to provide this critical piece of Transportation infrastructure, may change the courses of our healing city. It might be the death knell causing people to flee to neighbouring communities. It might dissuade businesses from investing in our City making people more reliant on social services. Cancelling the LRT won't be a win for anyone.

  • Justine Lodder says,

Canceling provincial funding for the LRT for the bogus reasons given is completely in line with the shortsighted and petty decisions that Ford’s government has made since forming Ontario’s current government. Please reconsider especially this move, as Hamilton is finally ready to start working on its LRT and this project will bring many benefits and much growth and stability to Hamilton’s infrastructure, as well as freeing up its transit resources to be used more wisely in other areas. We need to stop giving cars the only lead role in our transportation decisions!

  • Janis Web says,

Hamilton has done its work to be viable to support an east-West LRT.

This Conservative government has broken its promise to Hamilton and did it in a most unprofessional & disrespectful way. Hamiltonians have long memories.

Let the bid process finish. If the final bids come in over budget, scale back the project or ask the Federal Government to help. There are always ways to deliver within a budget.

The LRT has already started to attract developers and ppl wanting to live in Hamilton.

LISTEN to us & reverse your decision. Hamilton has done the hard work. All we're asking for is fair treatment to all the other cities with pending LRT funding from you. Thank you.

  • Thomas Belshaw says,

This city in the past was called...."THE AMBITIOUS CITY"...Lets BRING BACK that name "THE AMBITIOUS CITY" The people of Hamilton want this project to continue. The province cancelled this project on a FALSE PRETENSE of 5.5 BILLION because as far as I know there are no Conservative MPPs in Hamilton ( (except for DONNA SKELLY ) who has been against this project from the beginning. She,I'm sure has been in Fords ear on this one..The $1 billion is still there as far as I know.....LETS GET OFF OUR BUTTS & GET THIS PROJECT DONE ASAP....YES IT IS TIME TO REALLY GET SERIOUS ON THIS AMBITIOUS PROJECT.....Thanks.........TOM

  • Riley Steeves says,

Hamilton is growing fast. We need infrastructure that's going to support the increase in population as well as staying more eco-friendly. Doug ford is a coward.

  • Warren Hutton says,

    Build the LRT!

  • George Lacatus says,

It is absolutely ridiculous and asinine that the Hamilton LRT project has faced such opposition and so many obstacles in the face of the success the other LRT systems in the province. Build the damn train already!
